Night Flight and MVD partner to offer massive stream of unique entertainment

Night Flight and MVD Entertainment Group
partner to offer massive stream of unique entertainment

Night Flight PLUS subscription service gives users
access to unlimited stream of unique content

Night Flight logo

Night Flight is announcing today the addition of its premium subscription channel, Night Flight Plus, offering up original uncut air masters of Night Flight programming from the video vaults of the 1980s TV show, as well as an extensive library of entertainment from their partner, MVD Entertainment Group.

Night Flight Plus features a library of original content that has not been broadcast for over 30 years. Subscribers can revisit episodes of Night Flight transferred from the original USA Network air masters with exclusive interviews and specials, including features like the four hour 1983 New Year's Special and Best of New Wave Theatre.

Night Flight Plus will be offering up new releases every weekend of original uncut episodes from the Night Flight vault. In addition to the original material, Night Flight is developing unique artist channels, the first of which being the short film collection from Seinfeld actor, comedian, and filmmaker Larry Hankin. These exclusives will be paired with hundreds of titles from MVD's extensive library of music, horror, cult, comedy, and concert documentary films.

A Night Flight subscription is available in two options: $2.99/month or $29.99/year and compatible with Chromecast, and Roku. Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV are right around the corner.

Founder Stuart S. Shapiro stresses this isn't strictly a subscription, saying: "We're treating it like a membership to an exclusive club - A Rite of Passage - A trigger of never ending emotional nostalgia."

MVD's CEO, Ed Seaman added, "Many of us at MVD grew up with Night Flight. Some of us even remember those days... Night Flight Plus provides vast programming targeted to the counterculture. The SVOD leaders have largely abandoned the kind of selection that appeals to this market. Night Flight Plus fills that void, and then some. We are so proud to be working closely with Stuart Shapiro and his team, and especially proud to be affiliated with such a strong brand as Night Flight."

The original Night Flight TV series aired all night long on the USA Cable Network on Friday and Saturday nights. The show was the creative brainchild of Stuart S. Shapiro, who created the show - premiering on June 5, 1981 - with the idea that it would be, in his words, a "beacon of fresh cutting edge entertainment that was just not available anywhere on TV. It was the true essence of the birth of Cable Television." Night Flight featured classic interviews with all the major music and cult stars of the 1980's from Ozzy Osborne, Lou Reed, BB King, Frank Zappa to Divine, The Residents and Mark Hamill. VH1 recently called Night Flight: "The single greatest rock omnibus program ever aired."

Night Flight launched their retro video blog, Nightflight.com, on May 1st, 2015, and have been offering daily content, including in-depth blog posts which run the gamut from the nostalgic trips back to the Night Flight tape vaults to unearth classic 80s clips, to searching for the under-the-radar brand new things they think you should know about, offering up exclusive interviews and features you won't find on other video blogs.

Of this next step, Shapiro writes "Our goal with Night Flight Plus is to resurrect the editorial spirit of Night Flight with the same original curatorial edge we had in the 80s for a new digital generation. This time around Night Flight's special brew will be available anytime - anywhere."

Night Flight Plus membership is a unique opportunity to become an active participant in the comeback story of one of the most memorable and important counter culture brands of the 80's.

Night Flight Plus is available at nightflightplus.com and the Roku store.

The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead is Coming to Home Video May 20th

The Damned - Don't You Wish That We Were Dead

coming to home video on May 20th via MVD Entertainment Group

Featuring Chrissie Hynde, Dave Gahan, Lemmy, Mick Jones, Billy Idol and more...

The Damned - Don't You Wish That We Were Dead DVD cover

After packing cinemas and collecting rave reviews around the world, THE DAMNED: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead is coming to home video on May 20th.

Hailed as "excellent" by Uncut, "fascinating" by The Arts Desk, and "funny, fast-moving and gloriously chaotic" by The Hollywood Reporter, the film was directed/produced by Wes Orshoski, and is the first fully authorized documentary on punk pioneers The Damned.

Ireland's Hot Press raves: "Orshoski came onto our radar with the acclaimed Lemmy documentary in 2011 [which he co-directed/produced] and has once again created a tour de force, presenting an entertaining and searingly honest depiction of the grievously overlooked punk legends."

Filmed around the globe over three years, and world-premiered at SXSW 2015, THE DAMNED: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead tells the story of the third prong in the holy trinity of U.K. punk. In advance of both the Sex Pistols and the Clash, The Damned was the first U.K. punk band to release a single (1976's immortal "New Rose"), the first to release an album ('77's frenetic Damned Damned Damned), and the first to tour America (planting their flag at CBGB in April 1977). Now in their 39th year, The Damned are the only band from London's 1976 Punk Rock Big Bang still touring the world today.

In addition to Damned founders Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian, Rat Scabies and Brian James, the film includes appearances by such one-time bandmates as The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde, Mick Jones (The Clash) and Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead, as well as such rock and/or punk luminaries as Nick Mason (Pink Floyd), Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), Steve Diggle (Buzzcocks), JJ Burnel (The Stranglers), Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Billy Idol, Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat/Fugazi), Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF!), Dexter Holland (The Offspring), Jack Grisham (T.S.O.L.), and more.

Taking its name from the title-track of the Damned's 1979 album, Machine Gun Etiquette, the film charts the band's unique history, bitter infighting and legendary bad behavior (drummer Scabies is blamed for creating punk's "gobbing," or spitting, phenomenon); it takes viewers into the toilets once scrubbed by Captain Sensible and viewers follow the Damned on their world-wide 35th anniversary tour in 2011 -- with estranged band founders Scabies and James seen on screen answering that trek with a snarling celebration of their own. In a bizarre twist of fate, other former members find themselves being treated for the same form of cancer by the same doctor in the same Welsh cancer ward; elsewhere, the band's founding members are seen grappling with their legacy, and the fallout from missed and/or bungled business decisions that have kept them painfully working class for most of the past four decades.

The Arts Desk: "Where many music documentaries have a similar dynamic arc-rise, fall, rise again-Don't You Wish That We Were Dead is a fascinating, rambling saga that emanates a rich, sometimes morose, sense of what it's really like to have a whole life defined by the oh-so-brief explosion that was punk rock."

In the bonus features, Captain Sensible takes viewers on a tour of Croydon, the south London town that gave rise to the Damned, and he busks on the streets of Hollywood with actor/musician/comedian Fred Armisen, a huge Damned fan. Elsewhere, the full story of the band's involvement and eventual ousting from the Sex Pistols' fabled Anarchy in the U.K. tour of 1976 is told in detail for the first time.

In the film, The Damned is credited with helping to ignite the punk scene in America. In 1977, the Damned were the first of the U.K. punks to play in both New York (at CBGB) and Los Angeles (at the Starwood).

In 2010, The Huffington Post's Binky Phillips recalled the band's U.S. debut at CBGB in early April 1977: "I was down at CBGB with a chip on my shoulder. My town was Punk Ground Zero.... I was, in fact, without a struggle, reduced to fan boy within 30 seconds. It was as if the entire evening proceeding them had been in black and white and suddenly we were thrust into Technicolor Oz."

The Damned kick off a West Coast tour in April, which includes two appearances at Coachella (April 16 & 23), as well as stops in San Francisco (April 14, Great American Music Hall); Solana Beach, CA (April 19, Belly Up); Pomona, CA (April 20, The Glass House); and Los Angeles (April 21, The Roxy).

The band officially kicks off its 40th anniversary tour on May 20 with a sold-out gig at The Royal Albert Hall in London.

The Horror is Now Available

Moondog Media Releases Acclaimed Indie
On Digital VHX and Limited Edition VHS Today

The Horror poster

Los Angeles, CA - Moondog Media is excited to announce the nationwide digital VHX and limited edition VHS release of their first feature The Horror. Jerry White III's first film follows freshly orphaned twins made to fight for their survival; a fight that continues long after the violence ends. Anchored by stars Callie Ott (WTF!) and Raymond Creamer in his debut performance, The Horror and its leads have been hailed by critics since the world premiere at Dances With Films. Bloody Disgusting called Creamer a "modern take on Norman Bates" while Modern Horrors applauded White for making "one of the more impressive genre debuts [of the] year".

Still reeling from the loss of their parents, Malcolm (Creamer) and Isabel Rademacher (Ott) head to their family's lake house for a weekend with their friends. What starts as a fun trip is cut short when Malcolm and Isabel ultimately push their companions away. Abandoned, Malcolm and Isabel's isolation is exploited by two masked assailants who invade their home. Malcolm kills one of them in self-defense, but becomes obsessed with tracking his escaped partner down.

A year later, Isabel is attempting to put her life back together but memories of the invasion cast a long shadow. As Malcolm continues his hunt for the second assailant, Isabel becomes aware of the darkness that he carries inside and, while he claims to be protecting her, she worries that he may be the biggest threat of all.

The VHS release of The Horror ($20) exclusively includes an introduction by Jerry White III and a digital download of the film. VHX downloads of The Horror ($5) can be played on any home entertainment system, as well as Roku, AppleTV, Android, iOS, Chromecast, AirPlay and more.

Eat (2014) Film Review. Written and Directed by Jimmy Webber.

Although the premise of this film is a horrible one,a failed actress, who takes self harm to the next level, the message of this movie,is a very clever one,how many films actually deal with mental illness, yet alone, one about self harm, that many people with depression, unfortunately do. Yes we do not eat ourselves literally, but the whole self harm thing,is about hating yourself that much, you want to punish yourself, and by doing so inflicting pain on yourself.

What profession,is more demeaning, and soul destroying, than acting, something that can literally eat you away to the core. Failed auditions, not being liked, seeing others succeed, whilst you fail,to the strongest of minds,it must be soul destroying, but to someone, who knows thier age is against them,a damaged soul anyway, how can you possibly compete with the twenty something's who are willing to suck as much d##k,to get the role they want.

This is a companion piece to Starry Eyes, which is about the same profession, where that film is about selling your soul, and who you are to become famous, this is about the whole idea of self confidence issues, and although you are probably gorgeous on the outside, the only person who can hurt you more is yourself, with self loathing, which goes hand in hand with lack of self esteem, and confidence.

Please do not be put off from the gore, and blood, that most reviews, have taken great pleasure in talking about,in great detail,I actually believe so many reviews have actually missed the point the director was trying to make, yes the scenes are horrible, and the ending is a little preposterous, and the acting in places is not the best, but it is a very sad film, about a beautiful soul, who unfortunately cannot see it for herself.

I think in anyone who has suffered from depression, anxiety and low self esteem, there is a little of Novella Maclure in all of us. Of cause we never actually want to eat ourselves, but the hating of ourselves, and low self esteem will always be there.
A very brave to make.

Indie Horror Film 'Gatekeepers' Needs Your Help - Here's Your Chance to Help a Film Get Made

GATEKEEPERS - An ancient being summoned to our world wreaks havoc. Some legends should be left alone.

Gatekeepers

Here's some information on the film from Joey Sorrentino and My Little Rascal Productions

Twenty years ago a team of scientists attempted to contact an ancient race of beings. They failed, but unwittingly opened a portal into our world. That's when the killings began. Twenty years later Detective Mike Gregg is coming apart at the seams. His devotion to alcohol and one-nighters cost him the only thing he truly cares about. His family.

Detective Mike Gregg has a bond with his son's Justin and Robbie that is unbreakable and at times comical. He wants more than anything to reunite with his ex Denise. She is the love of his life, but ultimately keeping the job bottled up inside tore them apart. He will do anything to win them back and as you watch them together you will root for them to become a family again.

Mike Gregg is well respected by his peers and you will feel the camaraderie between Mike, his partner Detective Ed Mullins and Captain Randall Burton. The story line gets intense as the killings begin and Mikes frustration and bewilderment mount. What he is seeing can't possibly be real....or can it? As the investigation and mutilations continue Professor Richard Lyles shows up, a strange man with a stranger past, to give Mike the answers he is searching for but that just adds to the unimaginable world that is now Mikes reality. This will all build to a climactic ending that will have people talking about for a very long time to come!

To learn more about the film including the perks you can receive for your help and to watch the trailer, please visit the film's Indiegogo page.
