Five Bloody Twisted Tales
After the Ebola outbreak wipes out the Earth’s entire population, Dr. Fry & Dr. Headly Graves bring you “Scream Machine”, the only form of entertainment left on Earth. As a gift to Dr Fry from his long lost friend Lloyd Kaufman come 5 twisted tales: “Sledgehammer”, “Cannibal Pen Pals”, “April Fool’s Party”, “Septic Shock” & “The Deadly Indie Drive-in”. Each tales features the three M’s of Horror -” Madness”, “Murder” & “Mayhem”. “Scream Machine” is guaranteed to make you faint, puke & quite possibly soil your pants!
The film was written and directed by Walter Ruether III, Paul C. Hemmes and David Sabal. "Scream Machine" stars Lloyd Kaufman, David C. Hayes, Brian Carr, Josiah Spargo, Tara Carlton, Scarlet Fry, Randy Robinson, Dineta Williams and Stephen Kessen.
"Sledgehammer"
The first film follows a minor league pitcher looking to make it to the majors. He's being scouted one day because supposedly his fastball is legendary. Through a bizarre accident another player is killed and then someone decides to seek revenge.
This was short and to the point. No playing around here. I enjoyed "Sledgehammer." The film was brief but included a couple of deaths, some cheap but effective effects and the acting wasn't too bad.
"Cannibal Pen Pals"
Next up we have a man who appears to have an infatuation with Jeffrey Dahmer, even to the extent that he is pen pals with the killer cannibal. The man also seems to have strange urges of his own and wastes no time fulfilling them with an unsuspecting victim.
I thought the acting in this one was pretty well done. Randy Robinson played his part perfectly, being very believable in his role.
"April Fool's Party"
In the third tale, we follow a group of friends that plan to play a prank on a friend. Little do the junkies know, he's in his house snorting cocaine which adds to his paranoia. As is normally the case, it's a prank gone wrong.
This segment didn't work for me at all. The story wasn't particularly good and it just made the sub-par acting stand out even more.
"Septic Shock"
A couple go to the doctor for a problem the man has been having. He gets good news and bad news. The good news is he seems to be healthy and okay. The bad news is that his wife and doctor have been in cahoots and have plans for the future that don't exactly involve his well being.
Well, can't say I enjoyed this one either. Once things get interesting it's mostly shots of the man in a septic tank which cut back to a flashback of the scene in the doctor office, which goes on way too long. That's about it until the scene at the very end that is more humorous than anything.
"The Deadly Indie Drive-in"
In the final story we find a couple at a drive-in. The woman sends the man off to the snack bar and promptly thinks that the radio is talking to her, telling her to kill the man. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
Sadly this film didn't really do anything for me either. The gore shots looked alright though for a uber low budget film.
RATING: [ 2 / 5 ]
"Scream Machine" started out well but unfortunately it didn't finish strong.
