B-movie legends Lynn Lowry ("Shivers," "The Crazies," "Cat People") and Tiffany Shepis ("Tales of Halloween," "The Violent Kind," "Sharknado 2") headline as two women on a deadly collision course. Former pinup model Ginny (Lowry) had been cast aside by the heartless and exploitative modeling industry. Ginny didn't take rejection well and grew into a revenge-seeking, bloodthirsty, broken woman. When her new neighbors Debbie (Shepis) and Sal (Capobianco) move in, Debbie begins to notice strange things going on. Sal believes she is mentally unstable, but Debbie becomes determined to figure out what secret life Ginny is leading. THE FILM - [ 3 / 5 ]:
Half brothers Caesar and Otto live out some of horror's most terrifying scenes when they agree to house sit a home filled with ghostly visions, levitating objects and possessions. This hilarious horror pays homage to classics "The Exorcist," "Amityville Horror," "Sinister," "Insidious" and more, and boasts an all-star genre cast including Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose, Brinke Stevens, Vernon Wells and Sean Whalen.
This was the first time I've seen a Caesar and Otto film and what a nice surprise this was for me. You can't help but get the feeling that the cast had a fun time while making this film. "Paranormal Halloween" was a fun low budget indie horror film that includes small roles for a number of genre veterans, which is an added bonus. As for the movie itself, it was a wacky, fun-filled adventure with the duo of Caesar and Otto. I enjoyed the homages and also that the movie poked fun at things like the monotonous viewing of security camera footage in the "Paranormal Activity" films. This is definitely one for fans that like a bit of horror with their comedy.
AUDIO - [ 3 / 5 ]:
"Caesar and Otto's Paranormal Halloween" features a Dolby Digital 2.0 audio track. The sound quality on the DVD was good and did an adequate job. I didn't really notice any problems with the audio at all during the feature. It was just average quality. The dialogue was fairly clear and easy to understand.
VIDEO - [ 3 / 5 ]:
"Caesar and Otto's Paranormal Halloween" haunts its way on to DVD thanks to Wild Eye Releasing. The film is presented in NTSC anamorphic widescreen. The video quality was good overall. There was a noticeable lack of detail in many scenes with the film having somewhat of a soft look to it. Colors looked good though with some standouts like bright orange pumpkins. The contrast appeared fine for the low budget indie film.
SPECIAL FEATURES - [ 5 / 5 ]:
Audio Commentary #1 - This track features writer, director and star Dave Campfield, Josephine Iannece (Gilda) and JamieLee Ackerman (Kyla). Dave Campfield carries most of the conversation for the track and does a great job keeping the conversation going. We're treated to information about what is happening on the screen and in between we hear about the cast, crew, filming locations and more.
Audio Commentary #2 - This track includes producer Rich Calderon, stars Paul Chomicki (Otto), Scott Aguilar (Fred), Samantha Barrios (Roberta), production assistant Tina Johnson and Nicole Spade (fan). This is also an informative track but more relaxed and less formal. A little bit of overlapping of information occurs but it's still a pretty fun commentary. Being a big 80's horror fan, I did get a laugh when someone sees Brinke Stevens playing the twins and asks, are they twins?
Secret Audio Commentary #3 - I found this Easter Egg on the Special Features Menu. This commentary features Avi Garg (Drew) who also provided some music for the film. A few phone interview tapes of Robert Beckler (Rookie Cop) are played as well. Compared to the previous two commentaries, this one isn't nearly as good. It was still a nice little surprise to find included on the DVD. Mr. Garg talks about his role in this film and different parts of the production. He also plays some music and prank phone calls on cast members.

IN CONCLUSION:
"Caesar and Otto's Paranormal Halloween" is a fun comedy-horror and has me interested in both seeing their previous films as well as their next. While I found the DVD to have average audio and video quality, it really shined with the immense number of special features that were included. Talk about bang for your buck. This one is loaded.

In anticipation of the Halloween DVD release, the hapless half-brothers have debuted a new clip featuring B-movie legend Brinke Stevens (Nightmare Sisters, Teenage Exorcist) in a nod to The Shining. Written and directed by Dave Campfield (Caesar), Paranormal Halloween stars cult icons Stevens, Tiffany Shepis, Vernon Wells, Felissa Rose, Deron Miller, Sean Whalen, Andre Gower and Debbie Rochon.
These heroes of the low-budget silver screen join Campfield, Paul Chomicki (Otto), Ken MacFarlane, Samantha Barrios, Avi Garg and Shawn C. Phillips in a hilarious homage to "Insidious," "The Conjuring," "Amityville Horror," "Sinister," "Paranormal Activity" and more. Synopsis: It's Halloween Eve and Caesar and Otto find themselves housesitting for the world's most unpopular Governor, Jerry Grayson (MacFarlane). But after a series of ghostly visions, strange phenomenon and a demonic possession, the half-brothers call upon renowned exorcist Father Jason Stieger to help put a stop to this new nightmare. But in this house, nothing is what it seems and everyone is fair game for the mysterious forces at work.

High School senior Fern Peterson (Jennifer Laporte) finds herself stalked from beyond the grave by her deceased boyfriend Robert (Vincent Martella), in the horror-comedy, "Clinger." The film opens with Fern running on the track of her high school. She hopes to go to MIT to study neuroscience and join their track team after she graduates from high school. In the stands watching Fern, is Robert. Their eyes meet and unfortunately for Fern, she has a minor accident on the track. This leads to the meeting of our ill-fated couple. At first it appears that they have a promising relationship in their future. But then we quickly see that Robert is coming on very strong and in the process, making Fern increasingly uncomfortable with their relationship. She meets Robert one evening and while he is trying to show Fern a surprise he has for her, tragedy strikes and Robert is killed.
It doesn't take long before Fern begins to suspect that she is being haunted by the spirit of Robert. She searches on the internet and locates a local ghost hunter, who conveniently turns out to be her track coach, Valeria Kingsley (Alicia Monet Caldwell). Shortly after their meeting, Fern and ghostly Robert meet and it seems like they are going to try and make their very unorthodox relationship work. That is until dinner at Fern's house where her sister Kelsey (Julia Aks), spills the beans that Fern was going to break up with Robert, the night that he died. Robert seems to have somehow forgotten that part and as expected, does not handle the news well. The scene is entertaining with several funny lines. Fern's parents are played by Jeffrey Bean and horror icon Debbie Rochon. We also get to meet Kelsey's boyfriend, Dean (Paulie Deo Jr.).
It doesn't take Robert too long, to once again become too clingy. While Fern tries to find a way of dealing with Robert, he consults with one of his new ghostly graveyard friends and comes up with a plan on how he and Fern can be together forever, she has to die. That way she can join him in the afterlife and they can live happily ever after. The problem is that Fern has no plans to die anytime soon. By the end of the film we are treated to a showdown between Fern, her friends and family, versus Robert and his ghostly pals. Who will prevail? Who will survive? Will Fern live and have her dreams of going to MIT be fulfilled? You will have to watch the film and find out the answers to those questions.
I quite enjoyed "Clinger." I found it to be surprisingly comical.Fern's friend Moe (Shonna Major), was great with her innocently spoken lines of dialogue that were filled with sexual references. Kelsey, Valeria and a few other members of the supporting cast also chime in from time to time with some humorous one-liners. You never know what to expect with independent films. They are often hit or miss, mostly miss. But I had a really fun time watching the film. As I am writing this now, I am watching it a second time. "Clinger" has a great blend of horror and comedy. I believe fans of the genre will have a good time watching the film. There was a fair amount of blood and gore present, usually used in an over the top manner, which I think worked well. For me, the comedy worked great. They weren't too heavy handed with it and spread it out nicely throughout the entire film. Horror fans may recognize Robert's mother, Eugenia, played by Lisa Wilcox (Alice in "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5"). She is only in the film briefly which is a shame as it would have been nice to see a little more of her. The acting in the film was good overall. I thought Jennifer Laporte and Vincent Martella did fine in their starring roles. There was really only one actor that stood out as far as poor acting goes, but he did not have a lot of screen time and he actually made me laugh with some of his lines, so it wasn't much of a bother. The writers Gabi Chennisi Duncombe, Bubba Fish (who also co-produced) and Michael Steves who did triple duty by directing and co-producing the film as well, created a good script chock-full of funny lines. The film featured some entertaining supporting characters such as Kelsey (Julia Aks) the sock puppet entrepreneur, Moe Watkins (Shonna Major) the innocent and spiritual best friend, Jenny Bernstein (Rebecca Gail) the self-proclaimed best friend and Coach Valeria (Alicia Money Caldwell), the former ghost hunter. Supporting characters can often be easily forgotten by the end of a film but in this case, both the actors and writers helped make them memorable and a joy to watch. Tommy Faircloth's "Dollface" will make its DVD and VOD debut on September 15th courtesy of Breaking Glass Pictures and Vicious Circle Films. In addition to buying the DVD, you'll be able to watch the film via Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, Itunes, Google Play and XBOX. For those wanting a Blu-ray release, there was a hopeful comment posted on their Facebook page saying, "You never know. A BR version could be in the future."
Originally titled, "Dorchester's Revenge: The Return of Crinoline Head" where it screened at several film festivals and won a number of awards, the film was re-titled to the shorter name "Dollface" for distribution. In case the previous title didn't give it away, "Dollface" is a sequel to Tommy Faircloth's 1995 film "Crinoline Head". In the sequel, the story follows a group of college students researching Dorchester Stewart, better known as the infamous killer Crinoline Head, return to the scene of the horrific murders that happened in 1996.
